Theotokos – A Mãe de Deus sentada entre São Teodoro e São Jorge – século VI
A Mãe de Deus, segurando o Divino Menino sobre os joelhos, está sentada num trono entre dois santos militares, o jovem São Jorge e o mais velho São Teodoro, ambos vestidos como guardas imperiais.
Os dois anjos de trás são pintados em estilo helenístico, enquanto os rostos da frente pertencem claramente a outros níveis de realidade e aludem a temas teológicos relativos à Encarnação.
A Mãe de Deus e o Menino não olham diretamente para o espectador e são justapostos ao resto da cena na sua representação realista.
O ícone é muito provavelmente uma obra criada em Constantinopla como um presente imperial ao Mosteiro.

Mother of God seated between saints Theodoros and George – sixth century
The Mother of God, holding the Divine Infant on her knees, is seated on a throne between two military saints, the young Saint George, and the older Saint Theodoros, both dressed as imperial guards.
The two angels in the back are painted in the Hellenistic style, while the faces in the front clearly belong to other levels of reality, and allude to theological themes regarding the Incarnation.
The Mother of God, and the Infant do not look directly at the viewer, and are juxtaposed to the rest of the scene in their realistic rendition.
The icon is most probably a work created in Constantinople as an imperial gift to the Monastery.
